Blogging relies heavily on social media. If you enjoy having an online diary, by all means you need not bother with traffic and statistics; for someone that wants to create an income and a brand then apps can be your best friend.



Although Facebook and Twitter can be excellent resources, Instagram is visual - just like your blog. Gaining followers can lead to lots of traffic which is good for creating an online business, as traffic leads to $$$. Although it's important to ensure that 90% of your followers are 'organic' meaning they are fully interested in your blog and will check out your new posts each week.



Snug is an app that allows you to preview your Instagram posts beforehand letting you see if your next post will fit your theme and look professional. This app is excellent for people who get paid to post to Instagram or for those who have a strict theme they want to stick to.

 

This is a new one to me as I never quite realised how massive Pinterest can be until I 'pin'searched: blogging. You really can make Pinterest your b*tch, if you know how to create inviting post banners that people will want to click. This means someone that hasn't even meant to find your blog could end up on it.

 

So you've got your Instagram and you've downloaded Snug to see your layout; you've also got a Pinterest ready to post to. All you need now is a kick ass photo editor - Afterlight. I've been using this app for years and it really did bump up the quality of my instaposts. You can tweak brightness, and add extra filters and light effects. It is an excellent app for mobile, meaning you can edit and post whenever, wherever you are.
