So I'm thinking of making this a seasonal thing. I love playlists and love discovering new music that I wouldn't have looked for. Hope you like the first segment of this playlist idea.

As I embarked on my first train journey back to uni these are the songs I listened to that have me in the mood for Back to Uni season and Autumn Grooving. Enjoyyyy!

1. Stars & Shards - Loyle Carner
2. White Tiger - Izzy Bizu
3. Caravan - S.J. Smith
4. Wet Dollars - Zeds Dead Remix - Tazer x Tink, Zeds Dead
5. Say My Name - Late June
6. Way Down We Go - Kaleo
7. Go F*ck Yourself - Two Feet
8.  Diddy Bop - Cam O'bi, Raury, Noname

Why I'm Getting Sick of Blogging

I think that 18 is too young to say that you don't know what you're doing with your life. I mean, technically, you are just beginning 'your life', but for the past four or five months, I've been in a rut. Now, I know that whoever reads this will think, "why do I care?" and the answer is: you won't. That being said, feel free to carry on reading.

I hate my Instagram account and my rated PG Twitter account that I made separate from my own one, because God forbid you have an opinion in the 'working' world of social media. I've been told what's to be censored, how to address image use and how to 'gain 4,000 followers in one month' from a Pinterest pin written by a 40 year old woman who's been blogging for 15 years. Now I'm not bashing her, in fact I think she's remarkable, but I do disagree with this cookie cutter image that many bloggers take on.

I think with the recent events taken place on YouTube with content being de-monetized on videos that are 'free-speech' and shouldn't be considered offensive, has brought around these feelings. I don't want to ramble, but I do want to rant. I hate not having the confidence to make the kind of content I want to watch or to take the pictures I want to see, all because the blogging world is quite generally a boatload of beautiful, slim people that seem to have wads of cash for hauls. I'm not quite sure how to write this post without it sounding like I'm a jealous maniac but in some aspects, I am.

However, I do want to achieve the cool blog with the cool shoes and cool persona, but the longer I yearn for that the more time I miss out on the cool people around me and the cool things I actually get to do. So from this moment on This Student Wears is going to be a life blog. Not a 'lifestyle' blog because everyone should be busy creating their own. It will be a collection of thoughts and feelings that I have and whether or not you'd like to stay for the journey, is down to you.

What Do I Wear?! - How to Dress Quickly and Stylishly

giphy.gif

Like many things in my life, I leave everything to last minute. That usually means I've missed the next-day-delivery slot times and I end up running around my room looking for an outfit like a mad cat lady that's lost her cats - and her marbles. As this has been a usual occurrence, I've decided to share with you my tips 'n' tricks when it comes to quick outfit planning.

A Quick Update of Where I've Been

A month has gone by and I haven't even picked up the phone to call...

I'm back guys! I (accidentally) took a month off blogging but all for good reasons.
I knew that I wanted to progress with my blog so I went and registered my domain name. We are now officially This Student Wears... dot com!
This has been a goal of mine every since I started blogging away back in 2012. And despite not having a humungous following - yet! - I feel like I've stepped up my game plan and I'm ready to show you guys what I'm made of. As you can see I've revamped my website and gave it a fresh coat of paint - it only took me two weeks and a lengthy stunt of learning html and css - but it is now exactly how I want it.

I've also been working away at the magazine and had my very first full written work published all on James Dean's fashion, you can check it out here on page 78. And I've also been photographing the monthly style stalker pages too.

And to top it all off, I've been learning to drive! I'm only ten lessons in but I think I've conquered quite a lot in a month and hope to continue enjoying (or enduring?) it. It's tough stuff.

Anyway enough excuses, you will find me and yourself back here every Tuesday again until....
well let's just see.

Vlog One: Ayr Central Style Stage

Alongside my blog, I also work with Ayrshire Magazine. They teamed up with Ayr Central to create three days of stylish fun. Fashion shows, giveaways, treatments etc. I could only help out the Saturday  so I thought whilst I was there I'd create a little vlog.

I was called in to help out with promo and ensuring the models all looked fab for the runway. I've also included some pictures I took of the models too, who were all lovely to work with!

*Sorry I never got any footage of the actual show, but obviously we were behind the scenes helping out whilst it was on*

Skincare for Acne

So I've been a little MIA for a while there. I've been having a rethink and trying to work out what I want my blog to be, so with that said I've been trying to brush up on my editing skills and since I now work with Final Cut Pro X, it's been a real big step up from iMovie! I'm trying my hand at the Youtube world, and although I have made videos in the past they haven't been the quality I'd like them to be. Hopefully, you'll enjoy this short video all about the skincare products I use for my acne and maybe you'll find something new!

Top 3 Self-Tanners for Summer

Screen Shot 2016-05-16 at 22.21.28

Did you know that big shiny ball in the sky is actually the sun? Me either. It's an odd concept, especially in Scotland, but once a year we get to bask in the sunshine - even if it is only for a week. When the weather decides to perk up a bit, I like to make sure I'm as brown as a berry whilst I fantasise about being in the Bahamas. Sometimes sunbeds and spray tans aren't an option and you need a quick fix so here's my top 3 favourite Self-Tanners:

Best Apps for Bloggers

Blogging relies heavily on social media. If you enjoy having an online diary, by all means you need not bother with traffic and statistics; for someone that wants to create an income and a brand then apps can be your best friend.

Blogs I Love to Follow

Screen Shot 2016-04-04 at 21.20.39.pngObviously a love of blogging has to have resonated from somewhere. For me it was actually magazines. I used to think it was 'sooo cool' that people could get paid for writing about something they liked. I thought I was dead set on being a journalist until I discovered the internet has it own special kind of 'magazines' - blogs.

Today, I'm going to write about blogs that I follow and adore, and the reasons why of course.

What's in my Makeup Bag?

Screen Shot 2016-04-04 at 21.42.21.png

Makeup isn't something that will probably make a huge appearance on this blog. Purely because I'd rather buy clothes and secondly, because the idea of having a humongous, porous version of my face on the internet is scary. Kudos to all you bare-faced makeup gurus. But on this occasion, I thought it might be fun to show you what I use on my face everyday to make me look less like an extra in The Walking Dead.

Highstreet Summer Beach Haul

With summer right around the corner, the inner shopaholic within me decided it was time to add a couple extra items to my closet - beach themed of course.

I bought this beautiful, striped bardot top from New Look and it's made in this breezy linen material. This would be perfect with denim shorts for a surfy, effortless look. It was only £15.99 and with that cheeky student discount I got a whole £1 taken off! (Can you sense the sarcasm?)
